Forest Bathing Walks
I have been teaching yoga and mindfulness at Bedgebury National Pinetum and Forest since 2018. I feel very at home here as I have a passion for teaching in green spaces where we can “hitch a lift with nature” to boost the immune system, lower stress levels, reduce blood pressure and lift our spirits.
From Autumn 2025 I will be guiding Forest Bathing Walks that help develop the practice of Shin-rin Yoku, the Japanese art of taking a slow mindful walk to absorb the benefits of being with nature to support good mental and physical health. The sessions will be designed to follow the changing seasons and to invite people to get closer to nature, by expanding their knowledge and cultivating a sense of connection with nature.
“In the stillness of trees, I am home.” Wendell Berry
Each Walk will be suitable for anyone interested in a gentle approach to feeling happier and healthier in a natural outdoor environment. I will guide you through the woodland using our full range of senses. Surrounded by 3,500 acres of beautiful Pinetum and Forest, we will develop mindfulness skills by noticing the small wonders of nature and the calming influence on our nervous system.
You do not need any special equipment or previous experience to join a friendly walk. Suitable for beginners and everyone is welcome. Numbers are limited to a small group. We will be using woodland paths, off the beaten track so a good level of mobility will be needed, together with warm, waterproof outdoor clothing and footwear.
